Pillo is a voice-enabled, HIPAA-compliant, in-home technology platform that promotes health & independence, while enhancing connections between patients, their care teams and health organizations.
Pillo is a voice-enabled, HIPAA-compliant, in-home digital care management platform that addresses personalized care for adults with chronic conditions and promotes health & independence, while enhancing connections between patients, their care teams and health organizations. It can dispense medications, manage reminders, provides videocall and everything is controlled using voice and natural language.
We developed Pillo from scratch: we defined the product design, designed the mechanical parts and the electronics, the interface design, studying the user experience of each flow of actions that a patient can take on Pillo, the software running on the device, the mobile app that keeps loved ones and caregivers in the loop by notifying them about any missed doses, and the backend. We also managed the device certification (FCC, IC, CE, IEC 60601-1-2,UN38.3), and the manufacturing process in China. The device has been released on the US market on December 2019 by Black & Decker.
MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
Pillo was equipped with a built-in medication dispenser, making it easier for users to manage their medications. It could dispense pills according to a prescribed schedule, send medication reminders, and notify caregivers or family members in case of missed doses.
VOICE INTERACTION
Pillo was designed to respond to voice commands and questions. Users could ask it about their medications, health conditions, or general health information, and it would provide personalized support and reminders. Our platform is designed to bring the device to life, making it a health and wellness companion with a charming disposition.
CAREGIVER APP
We designed a connected mobile application to see the medication schedule on-the-go and track health data. With their permission, the app keeps loved ones and caregivers in the loop by notifying them about any missed doses or responses to check-in questions.
VIDEOCALL
The device could facilitate video calls with loved ones and healthcare professionals, enabling telehealth consultations and remote monitoring of a user’s health.
